McLane Creek Nature Trail

Capitol State Forest, Olympia, WA 98512

Trail Details

Elevation: 115 Feet

Distance: 2.4 Miles

Description/Best Practices

Easy trail, some of which is on a boardwalk. Lots to see and explore off of the main path. Depending on how you and the family feel you can make this a 1 mile or 2+ mile hike thanks to the double lollypop shape. Take breaks or have a picnic along the trail at one of the many lookout areas.

This is one of our favorite trails to hike during the fall. Families can get up close to rivers as salmon migrate back home. Just remember to stay out of the creek beds during this time due to spawning.

Discover Pass is required for this area.

Pro-Tips

Pit Toilets are smelly... be aware that emotions will vary Salmon run is typically late Sep-Nov (varies each year) Trails can get muddy after a hard rain - bring boots/galoshes
