The Mima Mounds are a unique geological formation that has baffled scientists for years. The trails wind through a prairie landscape dotted with these mysterious mounds. Along the way, you’ll have the opportunity to learn about the plants and animals that call this area home, and check off items on your scavenger hunt.

The trails are well-marked and easy to follow, making them perfect for families with children of all ages. You can choose to take a shorter route (1.5-miles) or explore the entire trail system, which covers over 6 miles of beautiful scenery.

One of the highlights of the trail is the observation tower near the trailhead, which provides stunning views of the surrounding landscape. From the top of the “tower,” you can see for miles and get a bird’s-eye view of the mounds.

Along the way, keep an eye out for wildlife such as deer, rabbits, and a variety of bird species. The prairie landscape is also home to a variety of wildflowers, so be sure to bring your camera to capture the area’s beauty.

Whether you’re looking for a fun family adventure or a peaceful hike through nature, the Mima Mounds Trails are a great choice. We hope you enjoy your time exploring this unique and beautiful area!
