Woodard Bay Conservation Area is a beautiful preserve in Olympia, Washington. The site is an excellent destination for nature enthusiasts and families looking for a peaceful and educational outing.

If your kids have the energy, add another .5 miles (roundtrip) to the hike and head down the access road to the water.  You’ll spot harbor seals and a few other surprises out on the water.  Nana thinks this is the best part of the hike!  She prefers to head directly down to the water from the trailhead, cutting out the loop for a nice 1.6-mile route.

  • There are no bathrooms at the trailhead.  Pit toilets are near the water, down the access road.
  • Add in a snack or picnic by the water.  There’s a picnic area down by the water.
  • If you head down to the water, ensure the kids have proper footwear.
  • Stay a safe distance from wildlife – protect your kids and nature!
