Tumwater Falls at Brewery Park
The salmon are running!!! And because of this, we decided to make Tumwater Falls Loop at Brewery Park our hike of the month.
Our family goes on this urban hike 3-4 times per year. It’s close to where we live, it’s relatively short, and has a high payoff with the salmon and other wildlife. From young kids to grandparents, there’s something for everyone to enjoy at this fantastic urban hike location.
First and foremost, the natural beauty of Tumwater Falls is simply breathtaking. The lush greenery, cascading waterfalls, and pristine surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for a memorable day out. The salmon run is an awe-inspiring spectacle to witness, as you can see the incredible journey these fish make to complete their life cycle. Kids were especially fascinated by the fish swimming upstream, leaping over obstacles, and the educational signs that explained this remarkable natural phenomenon.
The highlight of the trip was undoubtedly at the lower platform watching the salmon jump the falls. A close second was the underwater viewing area. Here, we had a front-row seat to watch the salmon swim through the crystal-clear water. The kids were absolutely mesmerized, and I couldn’t get enough of it either!
